INSTEL CDI tester – Model CDI Reader 2 CDR-1-1
This CDI tester (for DC type CDI) is based on electronic simulation of speed and load ratio to indicate the advance angle with precision of 0.5°
The virtual speed (RPM) is varied through control of a knob and the ignition advance angle is displayed in two modes-one through a 3 digit display and the other through an LED array.
As the speed is varied the displayed advance angle also varies in accordance with the program in the CDI. The instrument can provide the advance angle versus RPM information for both conditions of load ratio.
The instrument is compatible with types 847, 838, 819, 837 or similar provision is made through a switch to alter the program to suit a different model of DC CDI.
Load Dump Transient Generator
This test is a simulation of a transient that occurs in the event of a discharged battery being disconnected while the generator is generating charging currents. Specifications of the test pulse depending on the system voltage, i.e. 12V or 24V. The specifications are also different for JASO and ISO standards. Compliance with the test is essential as a test for durability of any auto component..
Transient Generator ITGJ – B1-B2 (negative Pulses)
The unit generates two types of negative pulses, B1 & B2, short duration with higher voltage and longer duration with lower voltage for checking transient immunity of auto components according to JASO standards.
Magnetiser IPP-100-200
A general purpose, pulse type magnetiser with maximum pulse energy of 1200 Joules. Magnetising fixtures are made to suit the components.Instel makes magnetisers up to 8000 Joules
Three in One Model IPG-PS 30-5-199
The unit is a combination of three facilities a switcher, power supply 0-30V, 5 Amps. And an adjustable resistance for testing durability under switching and or accelerated voltage conditions.
Winker Relay Contact Pressure Tester ICP-200G
This unit can indicate the contact force electronically to monitor and help ensure uniformity in the production process.
Transient Pulse Generator Pulse 9
The unit can test auto components/systems for transient immunity up to 800 volts. There is a choice of three pulse widths as well as positive or negative polarities.
Gauss Meter IGM-2
The unit can measure magnetic field intensity utilising a Hall probe with wide ranging linear response. Three sensitivity ranges cover a range of up to 20, Kilo-Gauss.
Transient Generator ITGJ-A-1-A-2
The unit generates two types of positive pulses A1 & A2 for a short duration with higher voltage and long duration with lower voltage for checking transient immunity of auto components according to JASO standards.
STARTER RELAY ENDURANCE SYSTEM
1. POWER SUPPLY UNIT:
1. This will be an A.C. mains powered D.C. regulated supply with adjustable voltage 6 to 16 volts and output current capacity of up to 60A of continuous rating. Transformer backed supply for high reliability against transients. PWM design for cool operation. Digital meters for voltage and current indication. Short circuit protected. Input: 230V ± 10%, 45-55 Hz. AC
2. Switching unit for switching three relays for 6 sec ON, 24 sec OFF, turn by turn. Cycle counter, 99999 counts. 100 amp shunt provided to facilitate current measurement.
3. Glass epoxy board for mounting relays 30 x 30 centimeters. Cabling will be provided for heavy currents
4. Dummy load for 60A current at 12 volts, resistive. Enclosed in a metal box, fans provided internally for cooling. Continuous operation rating
2. CONTROL AND TEST UNIT:
Control part: It is microprocessor based and suitably programmed. For endurance testing 5 starter relays are to be tested one by one in sequential mode. First relay no.1 is switched on for time adjustable between 1-99 seconds. As relay no.1 gets off, there is a time gap of 1 second. Relay no.2 is then switched on for the same time as was relay no.1. As no.2 relay is off there is a time gap of 1 second after which no.3 gets switched on and so forth. After relay no.5 is off relay no.1 is switched on after a gap of 1 second. The no. of cycles are recorded by a down counter of total capacity of 99999.
AUTO TRANSFORMER ISOLATED 0-100 V 30 A
Variable Voltage, 0-100 volts AC 50 Hz. supply 30 Amps. rating. Output isolated from mains.
This unit will consist of a Variac and a step down (isolated) transformer.
It will provide up to 30 Amps. of current at any voltage from 0-100 volts. True RMS digital voltmeter and an ammeter with high precision 100 amp shunt will indicate the output voltage and current. A safety cut-out will be provided.
The various components will be housed in a professional quality metal box.
3. DUMMY LOAD:
This is required to simulate the starter motor for testing the starter relay at the rated current. This is made up of power resistances of suitable values to draw out the same current from the 12V supply as the starter motor. At 12V and 60A it will dissipate 72 W of power. Cooling fans are incorporated for removal of heat to enable it to operate reasonably cool. It also has additional switchable circuitry to add 110A of starting current for 10ms.
Although in principle dummy loads should be provided for each of the 5* starter relays under test, the testing can be managed with only one load as shown in the attached schematic. As the relays are getting tested 1 to 5 in sequence this arrangement will work as long as a relay does not remain shorted after getting switched off. However this will not matter since this check is made by the controller cum tester as the tester senses a short in the gap zone and calls for a halt.
